Accelerating the End of Breast Cancer Act, HR 1197.  There could be no better time than to have this legislation become law in 2016 because of 270 cosponsors on the bill including more than half of the Energy and Commerce Committee-the Committee of jurisdiction for the bill.  YOUR HELP IS NEEDED TO MAKE THIS HAPPEN. It is urgent you take action immediately because there are only a few weeks left before Congress recesses for 6 weeks. The strategy is to target and urge Texas Congressman Joe Barton, a cosponsor of HR 1197 and past chair of the Energy Commerce Committee, to speak directly to Energy and Commerce Chair, Congressman Fred Upton to mark up the bill.
Following is the ASK to Congressman Barton:
Congressman Barton, thank you for cosponsoring H.R. 1197.  H.R. 1197 now has 270 bipartisan cosponsors including the majority of Energy and Commerce members. H.R. 1197 would leverage the nations existing investments in breast cancer to accelerate the progress already made towards ending the disease. Would you please help in our efforts by speaking directly to Congressman Fred Upton asking him to move H.R. 1197 to the House floor for a vote before the July recess?
Congressman Barton Phone:  202-225-2002 Also email sophie.trainor@mail.house.gov
Copy and paste the above message to her.  She is the Health Legislative Director for Rep.  Barton.  Next, call Chairman Fred Upton’s Office at 202-225-3761 and leave the following message:  I urge you to move H.R. 1197, the Accelerating the End of Breast Cancer Act, out of the committee and to the House floor for a vote.  The bill has over 270 bipartisan cosponsors and would leverage the nation’s existing investments in breast cancer research. Say thank you on all your messaging and leave your name and address.
Email me  edale28@aol.com and let me know that your Representative has agreed to sign the letter or if you have any questions.
