Project LEAD

Project Lead is an intense science course sponsored by NBCC that teaches advocates the language and concepts that are critical to understanding scientific breast cancer research. The program is designed to educate breast cancer advocates about research and the policy-making process. ABCF provides scholarships to member advocates to attend PROJECT LEAD courses throughout the year.

The National Breast Cancer Coalition has been training breast cancer activists to influence research, advance public policy and drive the adoption of quality standards in health care for more than 20 years. With work underway to achieveBreast Cancer Deadline 2020® the demand for educated advocates is greater than ever. If you have a serious interest in scientific study and in preparing yourself for participation in the policy-setting and decision-making roles of breast cancer research advocacy, don’t miss this opportunity for outstanding training through NBCC’s July 2016 Project LEAD Institute. The course is challenging and focuses on the basic language and concepts of molecular biology, genetics, clinical trials, epidemiology, research methods and advocacy. NBCC is now accepting applications to the Project LEAD Institute. This is a competitive application process so we encourage you to apply now! Space is limited for this unique opportunity and this is the only time in 2016 that the course will be offered. The Institute will be held July 10-15, 2016 in San Diego, CA. The application deadline for the course is April 15, 2016 at 5 PM EST. Scholarships for those in financial need are available. The course is free to NBCC members and annual membership is only $35.
